Erotic Writing Part 2
In the afterglow of Writing With a Slow Hand Part One, the second workshop rises inevitably to ask that important question “Could it possibly be any better than the first time?” Our answer is a resounding YES!
This workshop takes a holistic approach to defining the motivation of your characters. If you do not understand the sexual nature and capacity of your characters, how well do you really know them? Freud would tell you that sexuality is the most powerful human drive; characters who behave predictably in most situations may be motivated in surprising ways under the influence of their sexuality. They may find themselves doing things that are completely inexplicable to themselves and others. This can have a powerful effect on story. Think Sharon Stone and Michael Douglas in Basic Instinct. Think Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez in Shall We Dance
We will explore how a writer can harness the electricity of erotic energy to intensify the emotional impact of the writing.
Going Deeper presents an integrated approach, each exercise building on the previous one, addressing the key components of the show don’t tell approach to fleshing out the erotic aspects of characters.
